요 12:12-16

이튿날에는 명절을 지키러 온 많은 무리가, 예수께서 예루살렘에 들어 오신다는 말을 듣고, 종려나무 가지를 꺾어 들고, 그를 맞으러 나가서 외쳤다. "호산나!" "주님의 이름으로 오시는 이에게 복이 있기를!" "이스라엘의 왕에게 복이 있기를!" 예수께서 어린 나귀를 보시고, 그 위에 올라타셨다. 그것은 이렇게 기록한 성경의 말씀과 같았다. "시온의 딸아, 두려워하지 말아라. 보아라, 네 임금이 오신다. 어린 나귀를 타고 오신다." 제자들은 처음에는 이 말씀을 깨닫지 못하였으나, 예수께서 영광을 받으신 뒤에야, 이것이 예수에 대하여 기록된 것이며, 또 기록된 그대로 사람들이 예수에게 그렇게 하였다는 것을, 비로소 깨닫게 되었다.

The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" And Jesus found a young ass and sat upon it; as it is written, "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on an ass's colt!" His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him.
