Dr. Susan Chung. Dr Susan Chung was born in Korea, and joined Yonsei University” in 1964. After finishing her medical school, internship at Severance Hospital and 2 years of residency in Internal Medicine ,she immigrated to America in 1973 to continue more learning. She started her first year psychiatry residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, then moved to New Orleans, La. with her husband.
She, then, was able to complete the entire training of adult, adolescent, and child psychiatry at Tulane University, New Orleans. She was able to realize that she and some of her family members were born with the condition called ADH. Since this childhood illness can cause serious complications when neglected from proper treatment, she wrote the book, called " ADHD That I and My Family Members Were Born With" and herself, she endured a hard life, filled with all forms of abuse, physical and nonphysical, from all sorts of places. While she and her family members would have been able to seek help today, this sadly wasn’t the case back then.
This lack of proper guidance in turn motivated Dr. Chung into becoming a psychologist, a force of knowledge, and a force of comfort for those in need. Specifically, for those who had to face what she had faced. She dedicated her life to the subject, and was able to make many wonderful contributions to the scientific field due to her firsthand experience.
She was only able to do all this, to break out of her comfort zone, and to finally become a titanic force of justice for the Korean American Community because of her strength. And that strength is what makes her a legend.
